About the Beach
Stafylos Beach is a spectacular and historic sandy cove on the southern coast of Skopelos, located at the end of a pine-covered valley just four kilometers from the main town. It features a shore of fine pebbles and grey sand with intense turquoise water, named after the legendary King Stafylos whose Minoan tomb was discovered on the rocky headland. The beach is well-organized with sunbeds, umbrellas, and a small beach bar, but it maintains a raw and majestic character due to the high cliffs and the dense greenery that surrounds the cove. A narrow path leads over the rocky ridge to the neighboring clothing-optional beach of Velanio, providing a sense of adventure for visitors. The water is deep and fresh, offering an invigorating environment for a long swim in a scenic and well-maintained location. Access is via a steep winding road followed by a short walk down a set of stairs, which helps keep the atmosphere focused on the natural beauty. The entry into the sea is via the sand and stones, and the clarity is consistently high. The atmosphere is quiet and reflects the historical maritime culture of the island.
