History

Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church of Colorado Springs, Colorado serves the Orthodox Christian faithful of El Paso County, bringing the ancient tradition of Eastern Christianity to the second-largest city in Colorado and one of the most significant military communities in the United States. The parish has served generations of Orthodox Christians in Colorado Springs from its home at 2215 Paseo Road, a traditional Byzantine temple that has gathered the faithful of the city for worship in the ancient liturgical tradition of the Orthodox Church.

The congregation that has formed around Archangel Michael reflects the broad diversity of Orthodox Christian life in twenty-first century America. Its members include faithful whose roots trace to Greece, Romania, Serbia, Russia, and Bulgaria, alongside second, third, and fourth generation Americans descended from Orthodox immigrant families, and a growing number of converts from Roman Catholic and Protestant backgrounds who have found in Orthodoxy the fullness of the ancient Christian faith. The parish has recently embarked on an ambitious new chapter, acquiring a multi-acre property at 4925 List Drive with views of Pikes Peak to the west and scenic cliffs to the east, where it is building a permanent home that will serve the Orthodox Christian community of Colorado Springs for generations to come. The annual Greek festival hosted by the parish, featuring homemade Greek food, pastries, a Greek marketplace, and activities for families, has become a beloved community event in the Pikes Peak region.
