History

The Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection of Brookville, New York was established in 1976 to minister to the Greek Orthodox Christians of the North Shore of Long Island, bringing the ancient liturgical and sacramental tradition of the Eastern Church to the communities of Nassau County's Gold Coast. In its early years the parish held services in the facilities of the Methodist Church of Glen Cove, a gesture of ecumenical hospitality that sustained the community while it worked toward a permanent home of its own.

In 1981 the parish moved to its own facility in Glen Cove, which served as the community's home for nearly a quarter century as the congregation grew and matured. In 2005 the parish relocated to its present home at 1400 Cedar Swamp Road in Brookville, a move that gave the community the larger and more permanent campus it needed to serve the Orthodox Christian faithful spread across the North Shore.

The community that has gathered at Holy Resurrection across nearly five decades reflects the full breadth of Orthodox Christian life on Long Island, drawing together families of Greek descent alongside Orthodox Christians of many other backgrounds and a growing number of converts, united in what the parish describes as a place of Faith, Family, and Fellowship open to every soul seeking God's love. The parish operates Saint Kyrikos School alongside its Greek School, Sunday School, and youth programs, sustaining a full educational ministry for its families.

The Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Resurrection at 1400 Cedar Swamp Road in Brookville serves the Orthodox Christian faithful of Nassau County's North Shore as a parish of the Direct Archdiocesan District of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
