Getting from Agios Efstratios to Rafina

If you are heading to Rafina from Agios Efstratios you are making your way from one of the most isolated islands in the northern Aegean to the second most important ferry port serving Athens, on the northeastern Attica coast around 20 kilometres from Athens Airport. It is the departure point for ferries to Andros, Tinos, Mykonos and several northern Cycladic islands.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agios Efstratios to Rafina. Rafina has no connection to the northern Aegean ferry network. Getting there means taking the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, which runs 4 times a week in summer and takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, flying to Athens and then taking a taxi from Athens Airport to Rafina, which takes around 25 to 30 minutes and covers around 20 kilometres.

Getting there by air

Rafina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 20 kilometres to the west. Taking the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, flying to Athens and then taking a taxi to Rafina gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, fly to Athens and take a taxi directly to Rafina from the airport. At around 25 to 30 minutes it is one of the most convenient airport to port connections in Greece and avoids crossing the city to Piraeus entirely. If you are heading to the northern Cyclades from Rafina, ferries to Andros, Tinos and Mykonos run up to 12 times daily in summer.
