Getting from Antipaxos to Kasos

If you are heading to Kasos from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to the southernmost island in the Dodecanese group, on the opposite side of Greece. It has a maritime history that produced some of Greece's most celebrated sea captains and an authenticity that comes from being almost entirely off the tourist circuit.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Kasos. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Kasos by sea means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Igoumenitsa, traveling to Piraeus and boarding the Piraeus to Kasos ferry, which runs 3 to 5 times a week and takes around 13 to 17 hours. Flying via Rhodes is considerably more practical for most travelers.

Getting there by air

Kasos has its own small airport with connections from Athens via Rhodes. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens and then Athens to Rhodes and Rhodes to Kasos gives a total journey time of around 8 to 9 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, fly to Athens and then fly to Rhodes and connect to Kasos by air or local ferry. Check the schedule carefully as the Kasos service runs a limited number of times per week. If you are traveling with a car, take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos and drive to Piraeus for the overnight Piraeus to Kasos ferry, which takes your vehicle and arrives in around 13 to 17 hours depending on the route.
