Getting from Crete to Kylini

If you are heading to Kylini from Crete you are making your way to the main ferry departure point for the southern Ionian islands on the northwestern Peloponnese coast. Kylini's primary purpose is connecting the Peloponnese to Zakynthos and Kefalonia, with year-round ferries departing from its pier.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Crete to Kylini. It is a mainland port with no connection to Crete or the southern Aegean ferry network. Getting there by sea means taking the overnight ferry from Crete to Piraeus and then travelling by road to Kylini, which takes around 3 to 3.5 hours from Athens via Patras.

Getting there by air

Kylini has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Flying from Crete to Athens takes around 50 minutes and then the drive to Kylini takes around 3 to 3.5 hours. Total travel time is around 5 to 6 hours.

Your best option

Fly to Athens and drive to Kylini. It is the most practical approach. If you are heading to Kylini to connect to Zakynthos or Kefalonia, the ferry to Zakynthos takes around 1 hour 15 minutes and the ferry to Kefalonia takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, with multiple daily departures year-round.
