Getting from Dokos to Lavrio
If you are heading to Lavrio from Dokos you are making your way from an uninhabited rocky island in the Saronic Gulf to the third ferry port serving Athens, on the southeastern tip of Attica around 30 minutes from Athens Airport. It is the departure point for ferries to Kea, Kythnos and several other Cycladic islands.
Take the ferry
There are no scheduled ferries from Dokos. Dokos has no ferry service and is accessible only by water taxi from Hydra, Spetses or Ermioni, with the crossing from Hydra taking around 30 minutes. Getting to Lavrio means arranging a water taxi from Dokos to Hydra, taking the Saronic ferry from Hydra to Piraeus, which takes around 1 hour 5 minutes to 2 hours, and then taking a taxi to Lavrio, which takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour from Piraeus. A more convenient approach is to take the Saronic ferry to Piraeus, fly to Athens Airport and then take a taxi directly to Lavrio, which takes around 20 to 30 minutes.
Getting there by air
Lavrio has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 30 kilometres to the northwest. Dokos has no airport. Taking the water taxi from Dokos to Hydra, the Saronic ferry to Piraeus and then taking a taxi to Lavrio gives a total journey time of around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Arrange a water taxi from Dokos to Hydra before leaving the island, take the Saronic ferry to Piraeus and take a taxi directly to Lavrio. Pre-arrange your water taxi departure as you cannot hail a boat once you are on Dokos. If you are heading to Kea or Kythnos from Lavrio, ferries to both islands run frequently throughout the day in summer.
