Getting from Dokos to Poros
If you are heading to Poros from Dokos you are making your way from an uninhabited rocky island in the Saronic Gulf to a small island in the same gulf, a short distance away. Poros sits just 200 metres from the Peloponnese mainland and the narrow channel between them creates one of the most charming harbour settings in Greece.
Take the ferry
There are no scheduled ferries from Dokos. Dokos has no ferry service and is accessible only by water taxi from Hydra, Spetses or Ermioni, with the crossing from Hydra taking around 30 minutes. Getting to Poros means arranging a water taxi from Dokos to Hydra and then taking the Saronic ferry from Hydra to Poros, which takes around 30 to 45 minutes and runs several times daily. It is one of the most natural and direct connections from Dokos given that both islands sit in the same part of the Saronic Gulf.
Getting there by air
Poros has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Dokos has no airport. Taking the water taxi from Dokos to Hydra and the Saronic ferry from Hydra to Poros gives a total journey time of around 1 to 1.5 hours and is the most direct and practical approach for this short connection.
Your best option
Arrange a water taxi from Dokos to Hydra before leaving the island and take the Saronic ferry directly to Poros. It is the most natural and direct connection at around 1 to 1.5 hours total. Pre-arrange your water taxi departure as you cannot hail a boat once you are on Dokos. Alternatively if you are traveling with a car on the mainland, drive to Galatas on the Peloponnese coast and take the short local ferry across to Poros, which takes only a few minutes and runs constantly throughout the day.
