Getting from Dokos to Spetses
If you are heading to Spetses from Dokos you are making your way from an uninhabited rocky island in the Saronic Gulf to a car-free island in the same gulf, a short distance away. It has neoclassical mansions around the harbour, a strong nautical tradition and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere.
Take the ferry
There are no scheduled ferries from Dokos. Dokos has no ferry service and is accessible only by water taxi from Hydra, Spetses or Ermioni, with the crossing from Hydra taking around 30 minutes. Getting to Spetses means arranging a water taxi from Dokos to Hydra and then taking the Saronic ferry from Hydra to Spetses, which runs several times daily and takes around 30 to 45 minutes. It is one of the most natural and direct connections from Dokos given that both islands sit in the same part of the Saronic Gulf. Note that Spetses is car-free so no vehicles can be taken to the island.
Getting there by air
Spetses has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens. Dokos has no airport. Taking the water taxi from Dokos to Hydra and the Saronic ferry from Hydra to Spetses gives a total journey time of around 1 to 1.5 hours and is the most direct and practical approach for this short Saronic Gulf connection.
Your best option
Arrange a water taxi from Dokos to Hydra before leaving the island and take the Saronic ferry directly to Spetses. It is the most natural and direct connection given the geographic proximity. Pre-arrange your water taxi departure as you cannot hail a boat once you are on Dokos. Alternatively water taxis from Hydra can take you directly to Spetses if you prefer a single uninterrupted boat connection.
