About the Beach
Agia Anna Beach is one of the most iconic and visually dramatic coastal spots on Amorgos located directly below the historic Monastery of Hozoviotissa on the islands eastern cliffs. The landscape is characterized by its extreme verticality featuring towering dark rocks and steep mountain faces that plunge directly into the sea providing a sense of grandeur and spiritual awe. The area is world famous for its role in the film The Big Blue and remains largely unorganized to preserve the raw and rugged beauty of the Cycladic environment. There is a small traditional chapel of Agia Anna perched on the rocks nearby which adds a layer of historical and cultural significance to the primitive and rocky coastal scene.
