About the Beach
Monastiri Beach is a quiet and scenic coastal area found on the eastern side of Poros nestled directly below the historic Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi. The environment is defined by its spiritual and tranquil character where the surrounding high hills are covered in a thick forest of pine and cypress trees that overlook the shoreline. Because it is situated at the end of the coastal road the area feels like a secluded escape where the natural geography is the dominant feature and the sounds of the forest meet the sea. While there are a few organized facilities and a seasonal canteen the presence of the monastery on the cliffs above adds a layer of historical and cultural significance to the raw beauty of the landscape.
