About the Beach

Diakofti is the most exotic-looking beach on Kythira, located right next to the island's main port. It is famous for its very fine white sand and shallow, glowing turquoise water that resembles a tropical lagoon. Because the water remains shallow for a long distance, it is a top choice for families with children and for those who enjoy relaxing in warm, still sea. The beach is partially organized with sunbeds and is lined with several traditional tavernas where you can eat fresh seafood with a view of the shipwreck "Nordland" on the horizon. Despite its proximity to the ferry terminal, the water is exceptionally clean and strikingly beautiful. It is a very accessible and bright destination that offers a unique aesthetic compared to the rocky coves of the rest of the island. The atmosphere is easy-going and cheerful, capturing the spirit of a classic summer holiday.
