About the Beach
Kionia Beach is a long and popular sandy-and-pebble shore on the southwestern coast of Tinos, located just three kilometers from the main town and adjacent to the ancient Sanctuary of Poseidon and Amphitrite. It features a mix of fine sand and small pebbles with clear blue water, offering a cosmopolitan and well-serviced environment for a day by the sea. The beach is well-organized with many rows of sunbeds, umbrellas, and a wide variety of traditional tavernas and beach bars that line the coastal road. Numerous tamarisk trees provide a generous amount of natural shade for those who prefer a more relaxed setting away from the commercial sections. The water is usually very calm because the bay is well-protected from the northern meltemi winds, making it a choice for families and those seeking a refined swim near the capital. The entry into the water is easy and the depth increases at a moderate pace. It is a hub of social activity on the island and reflects the friendly character of the local community. The atmosphere is social and the views of the sea are wide. It is a central part of the Tinos seaside life.
