About the Beach

Mikri Vlychada Beach is a hidden and deeply sheltered cove located on the northern coast of Amorgos near the village of Tholaria accessible only by a steep and winding hiking trail or by boat. The area is framed by massive vertical cliffs and rugged slopes that provide a sense of total enclosure and fortification from the outside world creating an intimate and prehistoric atmosphere. Because of its difficult access the landscape remains entirely in its natural state with no man made facilities or infrastructure to disrupt the silence of the valley. The surrounding geography is marked by its dramatic verticality and the stark contrast between the pale rocky terrain and the deep blue of the sea making it a hallmark of the islands wild and unspoiled character.
