About the Beach

Monastiria is a large and very wild beach located in a deep bay on the northern coast of Kimolos. It is a mix of sand and pebbles, surrounded by a rugged and arid landscape that feels very remote and powerful. Because the bay is deeply inset into the coastline, it is surprisingly well-protected from the northern winds, offering calm water even when other beaches are wavy. It is an unorganized and very quiet spot, attracting those who enjoy hiking or arriving by boat to find total solitude. There are no facilities or shops, so you are surrounded only by the rocks and the sea. The water is deep and a very rich shade of blue, providing a refreshing and invigorating swim. It is an ideal destination for travelers who want to escape the main settlements and experience the raw, untamed side of the island in a setting of absolute silence.
