About the Beach
Plaka Beach is a secluded and primitive coastal area located on the western side of Andros near the village of Zaganiaris accessible via a winding dirt road. The landscape is characterized by its ancient stone walls and the presence of small traditional huts known as 'konakia' which were used by local farmers and fishermen for centuries. The surrounding terrain is wild and rocky with low bushes and wild herbs providing a sense of total isolation and a deep connection to the islands rural history. Because it is unorganized and remote it remains a sanctuary for those who appreciate silence and a raw unrefined environment where the only structures are those built from the natural stones of the hillside.
