History

Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church of Dulles, Virginia was founded in 2006 as the first and only Greek Orthodox parish in Loudoun County, one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States, established to serve the rapidly expanding population of Orthodox Christian families who had settled in the technology and business corridor west of Washington, D.C.

From its founding the parish worshipped in leased facilities in Dulles while building its community life, growing to more than 150 families and twenty-two active ministries, committees, and organizations within its first decade. On October 30, 2016, His Eminence Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey traveled to Loudoun County to celebrate the parish's tenth anniversary, and at that occasion bestowed upon the community its permanent name: Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, a name that acknowledged its deepening roots in the county and carried with it the Metropolitan's blessing to pursue land for a permanent place of worship.

In June 2019, Metropolitan Evangelos returned to Loudoun County to unveil the parish's newly purchased property of 7.5 acres off Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn, near Belmont Country Club, a milestone that marked the beginning of the community's journey toward a permanent home. The parish has since moved to its Chantilly address at 25350 Poland Road, continuing the work of establishing an Orthodox Christian presence in the heart of Northern Virginia's growth corridor.

Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church serves the Orthodox Christian faithful of Loudoun County and the greater Northern Virginia technology corridor as a parish of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of New Jersey within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, witnessing the transformational Gospel of Jesus Christ through worship, fellowship, philanthropy, and the timeless Orthodox Christian faith and tradition.
