History

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Biloxi, Mississippi was founded in 1967, bringing the ancient Orthodox Christian faith to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and establishing the only Greek Orthodox parish between New Orleans and Mobile along the Mississippi Sound. The parish was established to serve the Greek Orthodox faithful of the Biloxi area, including the significant military population associated with Keesler Air Force Base, whose Orthodox service members and their families have been a consistent and valued presence in the parish community throughout its history.

From its founding the parish has evolved into one of the most genuinely diverse Orthodox Christian communities in the Deep South, its membership reflecting the full breadth of Orthodox Christianity from around the world. Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Serbian, Egyptian, Moldovan, Bulgarian, Lebanese, and American families have all found a home at Holy Trinity, drawn together by the ancient liturgical tradition they hold in common across their many ethnic backgrounds. The military families who rotate through Biloxi on assignment bring their own Orthodox heritage from across the country and world, enriching the community with new faces and then returning to their home parishes, a pattern of coming and going that has given the parish a distinctively transient yet deeply welcoming character.

The community understands its ministry as, by necessity and by design, a ministry to all peoples of the world, rooted in the conviction that Orthodoxy is a haven and a sure strength for all mankind. Its annual Christmas Greek Pastry and Bake Sale has become one of the community's most beloved outreach traditions, sharing the culinary heritage of Hellenic Christianity with the broader Gulf Coast community.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 255 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi serves the Orthodox Christian faithful of the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a parish of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
