History

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Fort Wayne, Indiana was founded in 1959, established to serve the Orthodox Christian faithful of Indiana's second-largest city and the surrounding communities of northeastern Indiana. For more than six decades the parish has served as the center of Greek Orthodox life in the Fort Wayne area, growing from its founding generation of Greek immigrant families into a diverse and welcoming Pan-Orthodox community.

 

The Fort Wayne Greek Festival, which the parish has hosted for more than forty-five years at Headwaters Park in downtown Fort Wayne, has become one of the most beloved annual cultural celebrations in northeastern Indiana, drawing visitors from across the region for Greek food, live music, and traditional dance. The festival has grown into a significant expression of the parish's identity and its relationship with the broader Fort Wayne community, bringing the culture and heritage of the Greek Orthodox tradition to one of Indiana's great cities.

 

On October 25, 2025, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America traveled to Fort Wayne to preside at the Consecration Banquet marking the formal consecration of the Holy Trinity church, a milestone that the Archbishop described as an incredible achievement for the parish and a challenge to its faithful to carry forward the grace of the consecrated temple into the future. The consecration of the church building completed a journey of more than sixty years since the parish's founding and gave the community the fully consecrated house of worship its founding families had long envisioned.
