History

Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church of West Palm Beach was founded in 1952, established to serve the Orthodox Christian faithful of Palm Beach County as the postwar population of South Florida began its dramatic expansion. The parish is dedicated to Saint Katherine of Alexandria, the third-century martyr celebrated for her extraordinary learning, beauty, and fidelity to Christ, who silenced the philosophers sent to refute her faith and was martyred rather than renounce her Lord, her feast day celebrated on November 25.

 

From its founding the parish grew steadily into the center of Greek Orthodox and Hellenic community life in the Palm Beach area. In 1975 the church launched its Annual Greek Festival, which has grown over the following five decades into one of the most beloved Hellenic cultural events in South Florida, drawing visitors from across Palm Beach County and beyond each year for Greek food, music, dance, and the warmth of the parish's hospitality. The festival's longevity, now spanning more than fifty years, reflects the deep roots the Saint Catherine community has established in the fabric of West Palm Beach life.

 

The parish sustains a full round of ministry and community life at its home at 110 Southern Boulevard, including Sunday School, Philoptochos, GOYA, and a vibrant commitment to Orthodox Christian formation for all ages. Services are streamed live online, extending the reach of the parish's liturgical life to Orthodox Christians who cannot attend in person.
