Getting from Agathonisi to Lemnos

If you are heading to Lemnos from Agathonisi you are making your way from the northern Dodecanese group to an island in the northern Aegean, in a completely different part of the Greek island world. Lemnos has long sandy beaches, a Byzantine castle above the harbour at Myrina and some of the best Muscat wine in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agathonisi to Lemnos. Getting there by sea means taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Samos and then connecting via the Aegean ferry network to Lemnos, which involves multiple stops and takes the better part of two days. Flying is the only realistic option for most travellers.

Getting there by air

Lemnos has its own airport with daily connections from Athens. Taking the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Lemnos, gives a total journey time of around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the local ferry from Agathonisi to Leros or Samos and fly to Lemnos via Athens. It is the only realistic approach. Lemnos Airport is around 22 kilometres from Myrina so factor in a taxi or transfer on arrival.
