Getting from Agios Efstratios to Mykonos

If you are heading to Mykonos from Agios Efstratios you are making your way from one of the most isolated islands in the northern Aegean to the most cosmopolitan island in the Cyclades. It has a maze of whitewashed lanes above the port, long beaches on the south coast and some of the best beach clubs in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Agios Efstratios to Mykonos. Getting there means taking the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, which runs 4 times a week in summer and takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, flying to Athens and then taking the ferry from Piraeus or Rafina to Mykonos. The fast catamaran from Rafina takes around 2 to 2.5 hours and is the most convenient option if you are connecting from Athens Airport as Rafina is only 20 minutes from the terminal.

Getting there by air

Mykonos has an international airport with connections from Athens. Taking the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, flying to Athens and then Athens to Mykonos takes around 40 minutes in the air. Total travel time is around 5 to 6 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the ferry from Agios Efstratios to Lemnos, fly to Athens and then either fly to Mykonos or take the fast ferry from Rafina. If you are arriving at Athens Airport, Rafina is the more practical port and avoids crossing the city to Piraeus entirely. Book ahead in July and August as Mykonos ferry and flight spaces fill up fast.
