Getting from Antipaxos to Agathonisi

If you are heading to Agathonisi from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to one of the most remote islands in the Dodecanese group, on the opposite side of Greece. It has almost no tourist infrastructure and an atmosphere of complete isolation.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Agathonisi. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Agathonisi means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, flying to Athens and then flying to Leros or Samos, followed by the local ferry to Agathonisi, which runs 3 to 5 times a week and takes around 1 to 2 hours.

Getting there by air

Agathonisi has no airport. The nearest airports are Leros and Samos. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens and then Athens to Leros or Samos, followed by the local ferry to Agathonisi, gives a total journey time of around 8 to 9 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, fly to Athens and then fly to Leros or Samos and take the local ferry across to Agathonisi. Check the ferry schedule before booking your flights as the service runs a limited number of times per week. Build flexibility into your plans as Agathonisi is not the easiest island to leave in a hurry.
