Getting from Antipaxos to Naxos

If you are heading to Naxos from Antipaxos you are making your way from a tiny island in the Ionian Sea to the largest island in the Cyclades, on the opposite side of Greece. It has a medieval Venetian town above the port, long sandy beaches on the west coast and a mountainous interior of marble villages.

Take the ferry

There are no scheduled ferries from Antipaxos to Naxos. Antipaxos has no ferry port of its own and is accessible only by sea taxi from Gaios on Paxos. Getting to Naxos means taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, flying to Athens and then taking the Piraeus to Naxos ferry, which runs up to 7 daily departures in summer and takes around 3.5 to 5.5 hours. Alternatively fly to Naxos directly from Athens.

Getting there by air

Naxos has its own small airport with connections from Athens. Antipaxos has no airport either. Taking the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu and flying to Athens and then Athens to Naxos takes around 40 to 45 minutes on the second leg. Total journey time is around 7 to 8 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos, the ferry from Paxos to Corfu, fly to Athens and then either fly to Naxos or take the Piraeus to Naxos ferry. The ferry from Piraeus delivers you directly to Naxos Town port and is often the more practical option. If you are traveling with a car, take the sea taxi from Antipaxos to Paxos and drive to Piraeus for the conventional Piraeus to Naxos ferry, which takes your vehicle directly to the island.
