Getting from Crete to Rafina
If you are heading to Rafina from Crete you are making your way to the second most important ferry port serving Athens, a small fishing town on the northeastern Attica coast that is the closest port to Athens Airport and the departure point for ferries to Andros, Tinos, Mykonos and several other Cycladic islands.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Crete to Rafina. Rafina is the ferry port itself and has no connection to the southern Aegean ferry network. Getting there means flying to Athens and then taking a taxi or bus to Rafina from the airport, which takes around 30 minutes.
Getting there by air
Rafina has no airport. The nearest airport is Athens International, around 25 kilometres to the southwest. Flying from Crete to Athens takes around 50 minutes and then a taxi or bus to Rafina takes around 30 minutes. Total travel time is around 2 to 3 hours.
Your best option
Fly to Athens and take the KTEL bus or taxi directly to Rafina from the airport. It is fast, straightforward and drops you close to the ferry terminal. If you are heading to Rafina to connect to Andros, Tinos or Mykonos, the ferry connections from Rafina are among the most frequent in Greece.
