Getting from Crete to Skopelos
If you are heading to Skopelos from Crete you are going to the greenest and most unspoiled of the Sporades, a densely forested island with a Chora of white houses, slate roofs and over 120 churches climbing steeply above the port.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Crete to Skopelos. The island is connected to the mainland via Agios Konstantinos on the central Greek coast and Mantoudi in northern Evia. Getting there from Crete means flying to Athens first and then either driving to Agios Konstantinos for the ferry, which takes around 2 hours from Athens and then 3 to 4 hours by sea, or flying to Skiathos and taking the short ferry across to Skopelos taking around 1 hour.
Getting there by air
Skopelos has no airport. The nearest airport is Skiathos, which has connections from Athens. Flying from Crete to Athens takes around 50 minutes and then Athens to Skiathos takes around 45 minutes, followed by the ferry to Skopelos taking around 1 hour. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours.
Your best option
Fly to Skiathos via Athens and take the ferry across to Skopelos. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are travelling with a car, fly to Athens, drive to Agios Konstantinos and take the ferry from there, which gives you a vehicle on the island for exploring the villages and beaches.
