Getting from Rhodes to Lipsi
If you are heading to Lipsi from Rhodes you are making your way to a small island further north in the Dodecanese group. It has a pretty harbour village, uncrowded beaches and an atmosphere of complete calm.
Take the ferry
There is a direct ferry from Rhodes to Lipsi running several times a week, taking around 4 to 6 hours. Faster vessel options are also available seasonally, taking considerably less time. Both connect the two islands without going through Athens. Check the schedule before planning around it and build your travel dates around the available departures.
Getting there by air
Lipsi has no airport. The nearest airport is Leros. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Leros takes around 50 minutes, followed by the local ferry to Lipsi taking around 20 minutes. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Take the direct ferry if the schedule works for your dates. It connects the two islands without going through Athens. If time matters, fly via Athens to Leros and take the short ferry across to Lipsi.
