Getting from Rhodes to Lemnos

If you are heading to Lemnos from Rhodes you are making your way to an island in the northern Aegean, considerably further north and in a different part of the Greek island world. It has long sandy beaches, a Byzantine castle above the harbour at Myrina and some of the best Muscat wine in Greece.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Lemnos. The connection goes via Piraeus or Lavrio, making the total journey by sea the better part of two days. Flying is the only realistic option for most travellers.

Getting there by air

Both Rhodes and Lemnos have airports. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Lemnos takes around 1 hour. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Fly via Athens. It is the only realistic approach and the connection is straightforward. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then drive north and take the ferry from Lavrio to Lemnos, which takes around 9 hours and runs three times a week.
