Getting from Rhodes to Skopelos
If you are heading to Skopelos from Rhodes you are making your way to an island in the Sporades group, in the northern Aegean. It has a densely forested coastline, a Chora of white houses and slate roofs climbing steeply above the port and over 120 churches.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Skopelos. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then travelling by road to Agios Konstantinos for the Sporades ferry, which takes around 3 to 4 hours to Skopelos. The total journey by sea and road takes the better part of two days.
Getting there by air
Skopelos has no airport. The nearest airport is Skiathos, which has connections from Athens. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Skiathos takes around 45 minutes, followed by the ferry to Skopelos taking around 1 hour. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly to Skiathos via Athens and take the ferry across to Skopelos. It is the most time efficient approach. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then drive to Agios Konstantinos and take the ferry to Skopelos from there.
