Getting from Rhodes to Syros

If you are heading to Syros from Rhodes you are making your way to the capital of the Cyclades, to the northwest. It has a neoclassical port city of grand mansions and an opera house modelled on La Scala.

Take the ferry

There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Syros. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then connecting onto the Syros service, which takes around 2 hours on the fast boat from Piraeus.

Getting there by air

Both Rhodes and Syros have airports. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Syros takes around 35 minutes. Total travel time is around 3 to 4 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.

Your best option

Fly to Syros via Athens. It is the most practical approach. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then take the ferry from Piraeus to Syros.
