Getting from Rhodes to Ios
If you are heading to Ios from Rhodes you are making your way to an island in the southern Cyclades, to the northwest. It has some of the finest beaches in the Cyclades on its south coast and a lively Chora above the port.
Take the ferry
There is no direct ferry from Rhodes to Ios. Getting there means taking the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus and then connecting onto the Cyclades network, or flying via Athens and taking the ferry from Piraeus or Santorini to Ios.
Getting there by air
Ios has no airport. The nearest airport is Santorini. Flying from Rhodes to Athens takes around 1 hour and then Athens to Santorini takes around 45 minutes, followed by the short ferry to Ios taking around 35 minutes. Total travel time is around 4 to 5 hours. In Greece, airlines do not operate direct inter island flights.
Your best option
Fly to Santorini via Athens and take the short ferry across to Ios. It is the most practical approach. If you are travelling with a car, the overnight ferry from Rhodes to Piraeus is the practical choice, then take the ferry from Piraeus to Ios.
