About the Beach
Aetos is a narrow and very long beach located on the "waist" of Ithaca, the narrowest point of the island. It features large pebbles and deep, crystal-clear water that is characteristic of the open Ionian Sea. Because it is located right on the main road connecting the north and south, it is very easy to access, yet it rarely gets crowded. There is no organization, so it feels very natural and rugged. The water gets deep very quickly, providing a refreshing and vigorous swim. The views from the shore across the Gulf of Molos are impressive, especially as you watch the ferries pass in the distance. It is a great place for a quick and easy stop during a day of exploring the island. The surrounding hills are steep and covered in typical Mediterranean shrubs, giving the beach a very open and wild feel.
