About the Beach

Dexa is a beautiful and narrow pebble beach located along the road leading out of Vathy, famously identified as the site where Odysseus was left by the Phaeacians upon his return to Ithaca. The water is exceptionally still and clear, and the beach is lined with ancient olive trees that provide excellent natural shade and a very traditional Greek atmosphere. It is an organized beach with a small bar and sunbeds, but it manages to keep a very respectful and quiet tone. The entry into the sea is smooth, and the shallow water makes it a great choice for a relaxed swim. The combination of its mythological significance and its natural beauty makes it a very special place to visit. It is a very accessible and comfortable spot that offers a perfect blend of history and the classic blue Ionian sea.
