About the Beach

Minimata is a beautiful and very accessible beach located just a short distance from the main harbor of Vathy, making it a favorite for those who want a quick escape into nature. The shore is a narrow strip of pebbles tucked into a deep, sheltered bay where the water is almost always as flat and clear as a lake. One of the most striking features of this beach is the way the lush green pine and cypress trees grow right down to the edge of the water, offering a generous amount of natural shade throughout the day. This creates a very cool and fresh environment that is perfect for a long, relaxed afternoon by the sea. There is no commercial organization or beach bars here, so the atmosphere remains quiet, traditional, and very local. It is a fantastic place for families because the entry into the water is gentle and the conditions are very safe. The contrast between the deep green foliage and the bright turquoise of the sea makes it a very scenic and restorative spot for a swim.
