About the Beach

Polis is a very charming and historic bay located near the village of Stavros in northern Ithaca. It is a pebble beach with deep blue water that is well-protected from the winds, making it a very safe and easy place to swim. The bay is culturally significant as the site of the Cave of Loizos, an ancient sanctuary dedicated to Odysseus. There is a small canteen and some sunbeds available, but the atmosphere remains very traditional and low-key. You can watch the small fishing boats bobbing in the water while you relax on the shore. It is a very friendly and accessible spot that is popular with local families and those who want to combine a swim with a bit of island history. The surrounding green hills and the calm sea give it a very stable and peaceful energy throughout the day.
