About the Beach

Afales is a wild and majestic bay located on the northern tip of Ithaca, surrounded by towering white cliffs and lush green hills. The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, and the water is a brilliant, pale blue that looks incredibly fresh and inviting. Because it is open to the north, the sea can sometimes be wavy, providing a very different experience from the sheltered coves of the south. It is accessible by a winding road or by boat, and it remains one of the most natural and unorganized parts of the island. There are no facilities, so you can enjoy the raw beauty of the Ionian in total peace. The scale of the surrounding landscape is very impressive, making it a favorite for those who want to feel small against the power of nature.
