About the Beach
Agios Georgios is a sandy beach on the northern coast that offers a very different vibe from the rest of the island. It’s accessible by a dirt road from Ano Meria and is known for its wide, open feel and the small white chapel that sits nearby. Because it faces North, it can get quite windy, so it’s always a good idea to check the weather before making the trip. On a calm day, the water is beautiful and the sand is fine, making it a very pleasant place to spend a few hours. There are some trees for shade, but like many spots on Folegandros, it’s mostly an unorganized and natural environment. It feels much more like a rural part of the island, surrounded by traditional stone walls and quiet hills, offering a peaceful alternative to the more popular swimming holes.
