About the Beach

Agios Nikolaos is a favorite for many travelers because it strikes a great balance between being remote and having just enough comfort. You can reach it by a scenic fifteen-minute hike from Agali or by hopping on one of the small local boats that run back and forth. The beach is a mix of sand and fine pebbles, and the water is incredibly clear, making it a solid choice for snorkeling. One of the biggest draws here is the cluster of large tamarisk trees that provide a lot of natural shade right on the sand. There are two traditional tavernas nearby where you can grab a cold drink or a long lunch with a view of the bay. It’s a relaxed, social spot where you’ll often find people spending the entire day alternating between the water and the shade.
