About the Beach
Ammoudaki is a tiny and very secluded cove located on the southern part of Ithaca, often reached by boat or a quiet walking trail. The name means "small sand," and while it is mostly pebbly, there are patches of fine sand that make the water a lighter, more tropical blue. It is an extremely quiet destination where you are likely to be the only person on the shore, even in August. There are no facilities, so the atmosphere is entirely wild and peaceful. The surrounding rocks are great for snorkeling, as they attract a variety of colorful fish in the still water. It is a perfect spot for adventurous travelers who want to find their own private corner of the island away from any organized tourism. The sense of solitude and the sound of the gentle waves make it a very special hideaway.
