About the Beach
Kastelli Beach is a beautiful, low-key stretch of coastline located on the western side of Kalymnos, sitting directly below the ruins of a Byzantine fortress. This beach is mostly composed of small pebbles and shingle, which keeps the water exceptionally clear and gives it a deep turquoise color. Because it is tucked away from the main road, it feels very peaceful and offers some of the best views on the island, looking directly across the channel to the islet of Telendos. It is a fantastic beach for those who enjoy snorkeling, as the rocky edges of the bay are full of marine life. It is an ideal choice if you want to combine a bit of light hiking and history with a quiet afternoon by the sea in a rugged, natural setting.
