About the Beach
Laganas Beach is the longest and most famous sandy stretch on the southern coast of Zakynthos, extending for nine kilometers and serving as a vital part of the National Marine Park. It features fine golden sand and very shallow, warm turquoise water that remains calm for a great distance, making it an ideal choice for families and long, peaceful walks along the shoreline. Because the bay is a primary nesting ground for the endangered Caretta caretta sea turtle, the beach is subject to strict 2026 environmental regulations, including a total ban on motorized water sports and restricted access during the nighttime. The beach is well-organized with numerous sunbeds and umbrellas in the central areas, which are surrounded by a high concentration of bars, clubs, and restaurants that create a high-energy social atmosphere. It is a destination that combines intense summer nightlife with important nature conservation, offering a unique experience for visitors of all ages. The entry into the water is very easy and sandy, providing a safe environment for all swimmers. Access is very easy from the neighboring airport and town. The atmosphere is vibrant and reflects the cosmopolitan spirit of the island. It is a landmark of the Ionian Sea.
