About the Beach

Manganari is a massive and breathtaking beach system on the southern tip of Ios, consisting of five interconnected sandy bays with emerald water. It is famously the location where several scenes from the movie "The Big Blue" were filmed, and its beauty is truly cinematic. The sand is soft and golden, and the water is shallow and exceptionally clear, making it a paradise for swimmers of all ages. While some sections are organized with sunbeds and tavernas, the area is so large that you can always find a completely empty cove to yourself. The entry into the sea is very smooth and easy. It is a must-visit destination that offers some of the highest quality water in the Cyclades. The combination of the bright sand and the calm, multi-shaded blue water makes it feel like a tropical lagoon right in the heart of Greece.
