About the Beach

Mavrona is a peaceful and very traditional pebble beach located near the picturesque village of Kioni on the northeastern side of Ithaca. The water is exceptionally calm and clear, making it a reliable choice for a quiet morning swim before heading into the village for lunch. Large olive and cypress trees line the back of the shore, providing plenty of natural shade for those who want to avoid the midday sun. There are no beach bars or organized sunbeds, so the atmosphere remains very local and undisturbed. It is a fantastic place for snorkeling along the rocky edges of the bay where the seabed is full of life. The surrounding green hills and the sound of the water against the pebbles create a very restorative and quiet environment. It is an ideal spot for anyone who values silence and the simple beauty of the Ionian landscape over modern facilities.
