About the Beach

Megisti Limani refers to the main harbor of the island, which serves as a spectacular and deep natural swimming pool. The water is incredibly clean and transparent despite the presence of traditional fishing boats and yachts, and it is a common sight to see people diving directly from the quayside in front of the colorful houses. The depth is significant, and the water is a rich blue color that reflects the vibrant architecture of the town. It is perhaps the most practical and unique swimming experience in Greece, as you can jump into the sea and then walk directly to a cafe for an iced coffee. Sea turtles are frequently seen swimming in the harbor, adding a magical element to your dip. It is the social heart of the island, where the daily life of the community happens right at the edge of the deep, inviting sea.
