About the Beach

Plakes is a popular and very scenic swimming spot located a short distance from the main port, consisting of a series of large, flat coastal rocks. These natural stone platforms are perfect for sunbathing and offer easy access into the deep, transparent water via stainless steel ladders. It is a very social and lively spot during the day, as many visitors and locals come here to enjoy the cool sea and the open views. The water is exceptionally clean and is a brilliant shade of electric blue. There are often umbrellas and sunbeds set up on the rocks, providing a high level of comfort in a very unconventional setting. It is a fantastic place for diving and swimming in deep water without the mess of sand. The experience of jumping directly into the clear Mediterranean from the rocks is a quintessential part of any visit to this island.
