About the Beach
Pikri Nero is a unique destination consisting of three small, interconnected sandy coves on the western coast of Ios. The name means "bitter water," but the swimming experience is anything but, with soft sand and turquoise water that is among the clearest on the island. These coves are almost exclusively accessible by boat, which keeps them very quiet and pristine. The landscape is rocky and wild, with no buildings or facilities in sight. It is a popular stop for boat tours because of its sheltered position and the beauty of the natural coves. Each small beach offers a sense of privacy and a great environment for snorkeling around the rocks. It is a perfect example of the hidden, gem-like beaches that make the Cyclades so famous. Spending a day here feels like being on your own private island, surrounded only by the sea and the sun.
