About the Beach

Vai Beach is one of the most famous and amazing places in all of Crete because it is home to the largest natural palm forest in Europe with thousands of trees growing right down to the edge of the golden sand. When you are standing on the beach looking at the tropical trees and the bright blue water, it feels like you have been transported to a Caribbean island instead of being in Greece. There is a wooden path you can walk on to get a great view of the whole forest from above, and the water is perfect for swimming, though it can get very crowded because everyone wants to see this unique forest that has been there for hundreds of years.
