About the Beach

Xigia Beach is one of the most unique and famous beaches on the island of Zakynthos, located on the northeastern coast and known for its natural sulfur springs. It features a small pebbled shore and milky-blue water that contains therapeutic minerals flowing from nearby karst sea caves. The water is believed to have healing properties for skin conditions and joint pain, offering a natural spa-like experience in a rugged and beautiful setting. The beach is situated at the bottom of high white cliffs and is partially organized with a few umbrellas, while a small canteen at the top of the road uses a pulley system to deliver drinks to the sand. The water is consistently cool due to the springs and the depth increases quickly near the shore. It is a destination for health-seekers and nature lovers who appreciate the dramatic geology and the distinct aroma of the sulfur. The entry into the water is via the stones and the clarity is high. The atmosphere is busy but respectful.
