History

The Archangel Michael Chapel serves as the house of worship at the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta, located at 2480 Clairmont Road in Atlanta, Georgia. The chapel is dedicated to the Archangel Michael, the patron saint of the Metropolis, whose feast day on November 8 has been the occasion for the annual Archangel Michael Feast and Honors program since 1998, when Metropolitan Alexios conceived it as the annual gathering of the entire Metropolitan family.

Each year on the weekend of, prior to, or following the November 8 feast, clergy and faithful from across the Metropolis's parishes in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Louisiana come together in Atlanta to honor the Archangel and to recognize parishioners from each parish who exemplify Orthodox Christian life and devotion. The chapel at the Metropolis offices serves as a center of prayer and liturgical life for the administrative heart of one of the largest and fastest-growing Metropolises in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Today, the Archangel Michael Chapel stands at 2480 Clairmont Road in Atlanta as a sacred space within the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta, a place of worship, gathering, and celebration for the clergy and faithful of a Metropolis that spans eight states in the American South.
