History

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Greater Harrisburg was founded by Greek immigrants from various parts of Greece who settled in the Harrisburg area and sought to preserve their spiritual and cultural heritage in the capital city of Pennsylvania. The community they built has grown from those immigrant roots into one of the most substantial Greek Orthodox parishes in central Pennsylvania, with approximately 650 families drawn from Greek, Ethiopian, and convert backgrounds, reflecting the full breadth of Orthodox Christian life in the modern era.

The Cathedral's beautiful church and social hall complex sits in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, on the threshold of Harrisburg and the Susquehanna River, a location that has placed it within reach of the many religious, cultural, artistic, and educational resources of the greater Harrisburg region. The parish has long been recognized as the center of Orthodox Christian life in south-central Pennsylvania, serving parishioners from at least six surrounding counties. The annual Greek Festival, one of the most beloved Hellenic cultural events in the Susquehanna Valley, has drawn the people of greater Harrisburg to the Cathedral grounds for more than four decades, sharing Greek food, music, dance, and the warmth of the community's hospitality with the broader region.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 1000 Yverdon Drive in Camp Hill serves the Orthodox Christian faithful of south-central Pennsylvania as the Cathedral church of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh within the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, a community whose mission is to proclaim the Lord's presence in every aspect of its existence, centered upon Jesus Christ and His Gospel as known, lived, and taught by the Orthodox Faith.
